Sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...

...and eat ice cream. Even though her tummy hates it. We have had two good days since that last, horrible night. James has come straight home and we've done his math homework (Oh how I hate new terms like input and output and realizing how very little I know about algebra.). He has a couple of (sounds like they will be) good friends and hasn't really complained. When I tell him his friend John is in school a full hour ahead of him (due to the time change) it makes him happy. He hasn't yet realized that John is also out of school a full hour ahead of him but that's okay, for now.

Tonight it was a trip to the ice cream parlour and a visit to Blockbuster Video. James has been dying to see Hancock.

How come none of you Texans told me how troublesome it is to get plates down here and a driver's license? Good golly lolly... But, we officially have Texas plates on the car and I will go back (it pays to read the front of the phone book before you waste your time) tomorrow and get my license. I am hoping to get the Michigan house on the market here in the next week or so. I will be grateful if I can sell it.

Off to tuckle (we've always called it that) James in.

Good night!

Hey Laura,

We bought Hancock a few weeks back and have watched it four times. It is really good. I am so glad you have had some good days and that James is making friends. I knew he would. I will be praying for your house back in Michigan to sell quickly and for you guys to continue having good days. You sooo deserve it girl.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

Hooray for good days!! :o)

The best way for James to improve his algebraic skills and for you to learn is for him to "teach" you what he learns each day. That way he has to make sure he knows his stuff and YOU will be better able to help him.

Okay, sorry, teacher mode is off now. Oops.

Ice cream is ALWAYS so good going down, ya know? I wish there were some way to enjoy the flavors and textures of truly delicious foods without having to you know, actually swallow them and have them settle in our stomachs. Wouldn't that be perfect? All the joy and none of the pain. :o)

Wishing you happy days ahead and good luck with that whole DMV/license thing.

HUGS!

Hey Laura
Sounds like you guys are getting through the bumps and just taking one day at a time. Here's hoping that things get better and better as time goes buy. I hope your house sells fast too!

I have been a math tutor for more than 20 years. I will tell you the secret...

Let him explain it to you. For some reason people only "get" Algebra if they have to explain it.

Have fun!

Mmmm. Ice cream. Sounds like the teachers in the crowd both have the same suggestion. Maya's been having trouble with math lately, so I'm going to try this with her.

Sounds like pretty normal bumps in the road for a family who moved. You're doing well. I'm glad. Very glad.

Hi -- I just found your blog and wanted to say welcome to Texas. We've lived here for 17 years (my husband died suddenly a year ago).
By the way, I love the title of the blog. Makes me want to spice mine up!
Nice to meet you,
Janine
