Whatever. I have two of them now. I actually bought them 3 weeks ago and finally got up off of duff to plant them. They look...well...they look tiny right now but hopefully they will grow (I don't grow things well) and not die and be big and bloomy and joyful joyness...soon.
Remember that flu I posted about? Well, it weren't the flu. (pesky freaking e again) James had strep. Really bad. I have to work on the fact that every illness that my children get isn't going to kill them. I am constantly talking about how insecure James is, when I am just as insecure at times. Times when my kids are sick. Or want to ride bikes. Or breathe even. Tough times.
But, he made it through, is slightly less worried about failing TAKS (dratted Texas testing system) and being kept in the 5th grade for the rest of his life... and he's playing first base again even though he thinks it's "too soon, Mom. I should be settled more..." Basically, I am pushing us along in this life that is now ours. I am finally back to worrying a little bit more about the mundane stuff. A little bit less about the fantastical kind of stuff.
We've been doing. And doing is good.

The mundane. Sometimes the little things in life are good to focus on. :)
I'm glad to hear it. You've come so far. I hope you feel every day the wisdom of your moving south, despite strep.
Ah, "normal" and mundane, the stuff life is made of. I'm glad to hear you're there. :o)
Doing is always a good thing! Your hibiscuses (ha ha), if they survive, will grow HUGE. Ours is about 4 years old and about 6 feet tall!
Ah, yes, worrying about your children when they want to do dangerous things like breathe. I know that feeling so well.
Sorry to hear about James' strep. I'm glad you all are doing & that James is going to be playing again this year!
Hey Laura,
So good to see you here and living life in the mundane:) I am glad that James made it through the strep throat. That is so nasty to get. About your Hibiscus plants, just water them and give them a little miracle grow now and then and they should do great. They are pretty maintenance free. What color flowers will they have? I love these plants and mine are growing into trees because they are fighting to get some sun from the bigger trees. You sound good Laura, you really do. I think of you often and pray you through.
Love and Hugs, Laurie
I just planted some tulips...and no, it's not too late, because I bought them as plants already. Bright sunny yellow. I didn't plant any flowers last year, because life was too hard and sad and sharp around the edges, and I couldn't exactly make room for sunshine and flowers. Life is more mundane and daily now. Still hurts, but I wouldn't mind seeing some bright flowers once in awhile, you know?
Glad you're doing so well in Texas.
Good luck with your garden. I keep trying but still seem to kill it all. Hope you are all done with sickness for awhile.
Oh, I want flowers. It is so dismal here I envy the fact that you are able to do that now.
my mom once gave me a violate that had to be watered from the bottom so its roots could suck the water up from the bottom. drove me fucking nuts. i am awful at plants, so i now have a very pretty fake one!
