Up Days, Down Days...and Birthdays...

Yesterday was Nik's birthday. It felt--weird-- to not be there. Poppy stood in and took her to lunch. James and I will be there in a few short days to belatedly celebrate. James has bought her something that I'm dying to tell you about, but I don't know if she still knocks around in here so it'll keep.

The days are up. The days are down. It's your yo-yo Rach. I was hanging some paintings and, in the midst of excitement over an excellent purchase made, it all became almost worthless again. Why, do I do this? This moving on without him? the crazy part of my brain shouts. It is not as verbal these days as it once was, but the pain (short as it is) is numbing...crushing...

and then...

James has a friend over and things are a little up again. I look at the painting I got the great deal on and am happy. It's tuscan in its influence, carries the VERY LARGE dining room wall well and can be paired with sconces (thank you, new dear friend Sandy), or mirrors, or whatever else I get a very good deal on. The shop is a little one in Old Town Spring called, "Harper's Fabulous Finds" and the owner is a gracious, knowledgeable, wonderful woman...as is her nephew. It is very hard not to crush on him a little when you walk in the door.

So... We're going back up to Michigan for a week this Friday. I dread the cold, dread the guilt that will be placed around James' shoulders like a too snug sweater... but, there it is.

I don't know why James would get the guilt, but I hope it doesn't happen. You really are doing quite well - ups and downs and everything else!

The important part is that you recognize the ups & downs, deal with them the best you can & let them pass. You are still amazing.

It is sunshiny in Michigan today. Hope you have a good trip and can find some happiness along the way.

It's supposed to be in the 50's here on Friday. It's not exactly Texas weather but sure beats what it's been! Enjoy your visit and happy birthday to your daughter.

Happy birthday to Nick. :o)

That blasted, stinkin' yo-yo. :sigh: It sounds, though, like your ups are much longer than your downs these days. Yay. :o)

That Harper's Fabulous Finds sounds like a FUN shop! (I had to chuckle at the name. :o) SO fitting, no?) I would LOVE to see photos of all the goodies you find. :o)

Good luck on your trip north. Big ole HUGS to you and James. You hang in there and remember you have a LOVELY home in TX waiting your return. :o)

I hope you enjoy your trip. Maybe they will all get tired of the guilt trips and just enjoy your company. Well probably not. Hopefully you will have a fun trip and then feel a sense of coming home upon your return to tx.

The fact that you can face the obstacles that you know are or will be there, call them out--that's huge. The biggest thing will be what you do next--hopefully you'll just stare them down and outlast them.

I'm stuck in the ups and downs, too, and they can hit me at the oddest moments, sometimes almost simultaneously. Like, wow, this is awesome...damn, I can't tell mom. Crap. Sigh.

I would love to see a picture of your picture. :)

My tulips are blooming prettily, and whenever I see them, they cheer me a bit.

I hope that you had a good time and that it wasn't as cold as you anticipated.
Your yo-yo is my roller coaster.
Never stagnant, that's for sure.
But here's to all of the "ups" ...... may they become more frequent. :)
