Strength

Is kind of a joke right now. I am, to be honest, struggling.

Peace. Peace is what I wish I had...

Some great lyrics by O.A.R.:

I can almost believe that you're real
And it's love in my heart that I feel
But there's something between us
That can't seem to get through it all
If I could only read your mind
I would know how to save you this time
With love, love is worth the fall
If I could only save the day
Here in your world I could stay
For love, love is worth the fall
Show me the way, let me see
Into your soul let me breathe
I will wait through the ages
And watch you sleep
straight through the night
If I could only read your mind
I would know how to save you this time
With love, love is worth the fall
If I could save the day
Here in your world I could stay
For love, love is worth the fall
Sleep, darling sleep
Dream, darling dream
Open those dreams to me
Yeah, only read your mind
I would know how to save you this time
With love, love is worth the fall
Yeah if I could only save the day
Here in your world I would stay
For love, love is worth the fall
Love, love is worth the fall
I see you right there and you're smiling
Alone in your bed, that’s my love
It's better than listening
When nothing is said
I lay down beside you here
I do it for love Love,
love is worth the fall

I imagine strength comes and goes. One foot in front of the other, it will be worth it to see your kids grow into adulthood. Do it for them until you can do it for yourself again.
Be good to yourself.

Hi Laura,

I am so sorry this is such a hard and lonely road to travel. I wish it wasn't so and this song says it well. I have seen so much growth in you this past year and I am sure it doesn't feel that way to you during these times of struggle. I will be praying for strength for you sweetie. Day by day, you are doing it and I am proud of you.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

That is beautiful, powerful, sad.

Thinking of you.

Will Nik be spending summer break with you? How was her first year of college?

How is James?

Strength is just another word for getting through each day, and you're doing that.

I am so sorry the pain still saps your strength sometimes. Be still and rest and just feel it, and your strength will return. Like birth, kind of. You can't get past it until you give in and feel it. And then you'll regather your energy for another try. Just like you have been. I know it must feel like such a long road, but you've really been very strong, and I know you will continue to be.
That was a beautiful song. Thanks for sharing it.

I'm sorry. And I know it's hard to ask for help, but if you need to, I hope you can.

I'm having the same issue, Laura. The anger and guilt just won't go away and let me rest.

Peace...

In pre-contact Hawai'i, the ali'i (chiefs) would sometimes protect, say, a species that was being overfished, by declaring ho'omalu (make peace) on it.

So, by the powers vested in me by my having taken the name "KamaAina" ("local person"; lit. "child of the land"), I hereby declare ho'omalu upon you.
